TGIF

So are you as happy its Friday as I am?  Our weekend is filled with a few fun things, but for the most part we are just going to relax and hang out as a family.  I am going to do my best to put aside my infamous list of "projects" and just enjoy all 3 of my boys for the weekend.  I've learned that there will always be something to do and it will all eventually get done!

We had a great morning at MOPS.  It was no surprise that we showed up our usual 15 minutes late, but luckily everyone there has preschoolers and most of them were late too!  Carson has had his first cold which is so sad to hear such a little guy with a stuffy nose.  He has handled it like a champ though and it has yet to interfere with eating or sleeping.  He is already doing a lot better, but hopefully he will be back to his old self in no time.
Can you tell that someone wore themselves out at MOPS?  He was so tired when he got home and fell asleep right after lunch.
I have been so thankful to find such a great place to get involved with MOPS.  Connor absolutely adores his teachers and practically runs me over trying to get in the door.  Our speaker today was a couple who had 4 kids ranging from 4 to 17.  They had lots of great advice and it was nice to gain perspective form someone who has already been through this phase of life and is still in it!  It was a great reminder of my role as a mom and wife.  I could go on and on with all the wonderful points they made!  If you are interested in getting involved with MOPS let me know.  I would love to have you join me!

Speaking of joining me... my growth group at our church is about to start a great study on marriage on Sunday, January 23rd.  If you or someone you know would like to be a part of it please let me know and I will get you all the details you need! :)  Everyone is welcome!

"Please Mommy Sir"

Connor is at such a fun age right now.  He has definitely become our entertainment!  We can not help but laugh at all the funny things he comes up with.  Everyone says to write them down or you will forget, so here they are...
  • He greets almost everyone with "I'm so glad you're here!"
  • Before Christmas Connor would say "Santa's gonna be here any minute!"  Now he uses it to talk about other people.  "Daddy is gonna be here any second!"  He uses this phrase all day long even when people really aren't coming over. :)  I guess he thinks if he says it enough it might just happen.

  • When he wants something really badly he adds "sir" to the end our our names. ("Can I have a cookie please Mommy sir?")
  • When he talks about me to other people he refers to me as "my best friend Mommy"
  • If he is getting a "talk" because he got in trouble he usually interrupts with " Choo Choo.... Mommy, did you hear that train?"
  • "I'll be root (right) back!"
  • "Need any help?"
  • "Well.........."  He draws this word out for a long time before he gives an answer.
  • Every morning and before nap time  I hear "I waked up!"  (Yes, before... he tells me in hopes nap time wont happen)
Here are some ones that are funny, but not so cute.  (Do we really say these?)  :)  We have been working on changing these words to not sound so bossy.
  • "I told you....."
  • "How many times do I have to tell you.....?"
Thanks to the Backyardigans Connor has also learned a joke that I will leave you with.  Cole took a video of him telling it so hopefully I can figure out how to get it up here.

Connor: Why did the chicken cross the playground?

Me: Why Connor?

Connor: To get to the other SLIDE! (insert loud fake laugh)
I LOVE this little boy!

Game Day

For the last few weeks Connor has LOVED helping me in the kitchen.  He races in and pulls up a chair every time he hears me start cooking. I have been trying to be better about letting him actually help instead of just watching.  This morning we made a quick and easy recipe for  Chocolate Chip Scones that I found on a blog a few months ago.  Connor and I have already had more than our share and it is only 2:00!  Hopefully there will be some left before Cole gets home. :)

Tonight is the last game of the year for the Aggies.  Even though I prefer for them to be in green and gold :) I put them in their game day clothes to support the Ags who will be playing in the Cotton Bowl tonight.
Connor was really into taking pictures this afternoon.  I think it had something to do with the fact that he knew as soon as he was done it was nap time.
Trying to teach Carson to throw the ball...
We are hoping for a big win tonight!

Snowman Craft

We had a nice morning at home playing with trains and reading books.  Connor had lots of energy to burn and I was enjoying staying warm inside so we brought out the craft box.  I have TONS of stuff left from teaching that has been perfect to do fun activities with Connor.  I quickly scrambled to find something we could make and came across this snowman craft at DLTK kids.  It turned out to be a pretty fun project minus the fact that we had a few 2 year old melt downs thrown in.  I learned the hard way to always keep the rest of the craft box hidden while doing projects.  Permanent fabric paint all of a sudden looks like a lot more fun than cotton balls and it is really sad when the answer is no.
Popsicle sticks have been the perfect way to let Connor glue things down.  Although we somehow always seem to have glue everywhere when we finish!
Doesn't he look thrilled to be making a snowman? HA!  By the look on that face you would think I was punishing him. :)  I promise he had a lot more fun that this picture makes it seem.
The finished product!
Except for gluing on the face, Connor was able to do most of it by himself.  Drawing the circles for him to fill in with cotton balls definitely made it easier.  We found some foam snowflakes to finish it off.  I love that part of my "job" is to stay home and do fun things like this with my boys!

A Little Bit of Everything

Happy New Year everyone!  I feel like we have been in recovery mode from the holidays, but we officially have all the decorations back in the attic, new toys put away, and a huge pile of things ready for a garage sale this weekend.
We loved getting to spend so much time with Kevin and Rachel last week.  It is hard to believe that the next time we see them they will have a baby!  I can't wait to have a nephew. :)
Cole and I have been spoiled and went to see 2 movies in one week!  Thanks to Mimi who kept the boys!  Here we are on New Years Eve getting ready to go see the new Chronicles of Narnia.  Connor was too busy eating dinner to stop for a picture.
On a whole other note, Connor has started to become more and more interested in Carson (aka his "little buddy"- not sure where he came up with that one!)  It is not all the time, but every once in awhile he just goes and lays down by him, gives him his paci, or wants to hold him.  I think these two are going to have lots of fun together.
Hope everyone is having a great week!
