First Day of Kindergarten

Backpack was packed, lunch was made, and new clothes laid out all in anticipation for the first day of school.
Even his snack got a little extra love for the first day. :)
Boy am I thankful we took some photos earlier in the week. He was so distracted/excited about everything going on around him we did not get one single picture where he was looking.
I'm pretty sure he was even coloring that picture without looking!
The Assistant Principal snapped this photo during his lunch and sent it to me.  I loved getting to catch a little glimpse into his day.
We celebrated making it through the first day with a few little treats.  The school wide theme this year is super heroes so I thought that would be a perfect way to celebrate.
A few tasty sweets fit for a Super Kindergartner!
I found a few stickers and coloring books at the Dollar Store to throw in.
Today was a great start to a fun year ahead!

2 More Days...

The days of summer were coming to an end with the first day of school right around the corner.  We continued our tradition from Pre-K of going up the weekend before to snap some photos in front of the school.  These are priceless memories to me and I'm so glad we took a little time out of our Saturday morning to do it.

Meet the Teacher: Kindergarten Edition

The time had finally arrived for Connor to meet his Kindergarten teacher.  We received a phone call from Mrs. Shmidl the day before and couldn't wait to meet her.
Earlier in the week Connor helped me pick out some books for his classroom.  We wrapped them up with a few personalized name plates like we did for Pre-K and we were ready to go!
Mrs. Shmidl had a few surprises of her own!  Each students had a bag of popcorn and a sweet note waiting for them at their table.
Connor was thrilled to find where his seat was and complete a class scavenger hunt.  We also had a chance to put away all our school supplies so everyone was ready to go for the first day.
These two have been friends for a long time and now get to be in the same class.  Connor absolutely loves Miss Harper!
One neat thing about going to school in the same small town that his Daddy did means that Connor will have the same PE coach that Cole did in elementary school.  Cole also completed part of his student teaching with Coach Engeling.  Such a small world!
Come Monday morning we will be dropping this boy off in this sweet school we have already grown to love.

Summer Camps

It worked out where Connor had a camp to go to each month this summer.  In June he headed back to his preschool for a cooking camp.
He came home each day sharing about what they had made that day and usually had some tasty treats for us to try.  Over the course of the week they made cornbread, smoothies, pigs in a blanket, muffins, pizza, fresh lemonade and cupcakes.  He learned a lot about the ingredients it takes to make different foods and drinks.  Cooking may not be his passion, but he still likes to help me in the kitchen every now and then.
In July, we had VBS out at our church campus in Dripping Springs.  I was teaching this year so Carson got to come too.
Being at a smaller campus provided lots of opportunities for me to see the boys throughout the day.  They both had a blast!
On Thursday evening all the kids put on a program for the parents.  They sang all the songs that they had learned that week.  We are thankfully for all the teachers who worked so hard to make it such a wonderful week.
The last camp of the summer was Kinder Kamp.  It was held at Connor's new elementary school.  The purpose was to provided an opportunity for the incoming students to get comfortable with the campus and see what Kindergarten is all about.  Connor had lot of friends he knew there and made some new friends too!
We ended the week with lunch at McDonald's with some friends.  Nana, Kate, Hannah, and Natalie were there too.  It was a great end to a fun week!
I can't believe summer has slipped away and we are only 2 days away from school starting!
