Grassy Eggs

Last year I saw a post on Fly Through Our Window about a spring project.  She reposted it again this year (Get Crackin') and I thought we would give it a try.  All you need are egg shells, soil, and rye grass seeds. I threw in a few books and coloring sheets to teach Connor a little bit more about plants.
Learning that plants need soil, water, and light.
Filling the egg shells with dirt.
Covering the top with grass seeds.
Finally, adding a little water.
We set them in the kitchen window sill so they would get plenty of light.
Such an easy project and Connor had a blast doing it.  We check on the eggs every day and water them when needed.  Hopefully by Easter our grass will be tall and green!

It was nap time for Carson, but maybe next year he can join in on the fun.

Boys Weekend

While Carson and I were in LA, Cole and Connor had their own fun.  Cole is so good about sending me picture updates while I am away so I thought I would share some with you.  This is probably as close as it gets to getting Cole to blog. :)

Mommy, I'm having fun with Daddy at Mighty Fine!
I asked Daddy if I could have some pink roller skates first...
Then I asked for a football helmet...
But ended up with an orange soccer ball! (that was until we pulled out of the academy parking lot, then we shed tears because we wanted to go back and get the red soccer ball)
 Meet my new assistant...
 Working hard
Can you see why Connor didn't mind one bit that I went out of town? :)

4-4-11

With some last minute planning I was thrilled to be able to make it out to LA for Owen's birthday.  Thanks to my Mom, Cole, and Cheryl for making it possible!

Carson took his very first plane ride and was great the entire time.  He received several compliments on what a good job he did.
Kevin was so sweet to pick us up from the airport on Sunday night, drop us by their apartment for a quick visit with Rachel and her mom, then check us in at our hotel.  What a great brother to do all that just a few hours before he had to be at the hospital!

We stayed on 3rd street in between the hospital and their apartment.  There were tons of neat shops/restaurants including the new Magnolia Bakery right across the street from us.
On Monday morning we woke up early and headed out to get some breakfast at Toast and then made our way towards the hospital.  We made a quick stop at Magnolia's to get some cupcakes for Owen's birthday.
We arrived at the hospital ready to hear some news.
Carson did so good hanging out in the lobby.
Between bottles...
and lots of smiles and kisses...
he helped the time pass quickly.  He also made several friends with that sweet smile!

We finally got the text that Owen had arrived. YAY!!!  He is just perfect from head to toe.  The sweetest nephew I have ever seen. :)
Can't you just feel the pure joy in this picture? :)

We can't wait to get back and see you again soon!

Owen

Congratulations to Kevin and Rachel on the arrival of their sweet baby boy.  Owen Thomas arrived on Monday weighing 9lbs 1oz and 23 inches long.  He is as cute as they come!  I am one very proud aunt! :)

San Antonio Zoo

My friend, Jamie, invited us to join her and her boys at the zoo this past week so we loaded up the car and headed south to San Antonio.  We were glad that Beth, Emily, and Jackson could ride down with us to make the long drive more fun!
Connor and Caleb checking out the bears.
Connor enjoyed the statues just as much as the real animals. :)
The waterfalls were also a big hit!
 Searching for the crocodile...
Our crew- Emily, Jackson, Caleb, Elijah, & Connor (Carson got to stay home and hang out with Mimi)
Connor seemed to enjoy the elephants the most.  He is still talking about them!
Look how huge those fish are!

 My cute little tortoise!
The zoo had tons of great toddler areas for the kids to run free.
With all the open areas and freedom of walking, our 2 year olds definitely had some practice in listening.  Connor definitely gave me a run for my money that day!  Even though I felt like I had ran a marathon trying to keep up with Connor we all had a great time!  It is so nice to have friends in this same stage of life to do fun things like this with.
