Sic 'Em Bears!

Yesterday was an important day in the Hayden house for many reasons. Football has officially started (Can you hear Cole screaming with excitement?) and Baylor was one of the first schools to play. In honor of this special day Connor wore his 1st Baylor onesie. (I had bought this for him as soon as I found out I was pregnant!) In the end, Connor found out what it means to be a Baylor fan.... we might not always win, but at least we look good trying! :)

Connor thought it was more fun to eat his bear than watch the game.
Don't worry... everyone is still happy around the Hayden house today even after a huge loss.
Cole is headed to College Station tomorrow for the first A&M game. Connor has his outfit ready and is excited to support his Daddy's team.

A Trip to the Pool

On Tuesday Connor took his first trip to the pool. My mom was at her neighborhood pool so we decided to join her. Since school is already back in session we had the pool all to ourselves which was so nice. Connor is just now starting to really enjoy his baths so I was curious to see how the pool would go.
Well... he LOVED it! I sat him down on the top step so he could splash the water around, but all he wanted to do was get his whole body under water. He would lean back as far as he could go so he could have everything but his head in the water. So I just held his head up while he floated! :) We didn't get to stay in the pool long because it was too hot and sunny, but we will definitely be making a trip back soon.

Busy Weekend

We have been so busy lately that I have gotten behind on my updates. Connor is getting bigger everyday and really starting to show his little personality.
On Thursday my mom and I took Connor to Picture People for his first photo session. We decided to not make an appointment so we could be flexible with his schedule. They were very busy when we got there and we had to wait about 25 minutes until it was our turn. Connor fell asleep while we were waiting so we hoped he would wake up happy. Here is Connor waiting patiently. :)

We put a bib on Connor for the first time to keep his clothes clean before we went. He did such a good job!. The photographer did a great at trying to get his attention (which is not always easy with a 2 month old) so I was very impressed. Connor was not a big fan of the bright lights from the flash. He had some very serious looks like he was trying to figure out what in the world was going on. I learned that taking a baby to take pictures is not the easiest thing, but you just have to be flexible and not worry if they don't turn out just the way you want. That is what is great about Picture People because there is no sitting fee and you get a free 8 X 10 or 10 X 13. I also learned that you love every picture (even if it is not the best) because it's your baby! :) Here is the link to the picture people website for Connor's Pictures.

On Saturday we had our Sunday school class over for one of our groups monthly dinners. This month was our turn to host and we had tons of fun. I made baked ziti and everyone else brought drinks and desserts. Cole and I are so glad to be a part of this amazing group of people. We have really enjoyed getting to know everyone and this group is definitely one of the reason why we still live in Austin.
There was about 20 of us, but somehow we all managed to find a place to eat in our house. :)

It was one big event after another for the Hayden family this weekend. Sunday was Connor Michael's first day to go to church AND Sunday school. We were SO proud of how well he did during both.
Connor loves to spend the morning with his dad and mom, but it makes it really hard to get ready on time when all we want to do is play with him!

Two Months!

Can you believe that little Connor has already been here for two months? I know people say that time flies, but it really has. He is growing and changing so much everyday. It seems like everyday is filled with new and exciting things. The past week Connor has had many milestones, including being 2 months old! Here are a few of the things that he has been up to:

During the day, Connor absolutely LOVES to kick, stretch, and move his hands all around. His new favorite thing is his bouncer where he has figured out how to turn the music on with his movement. He loves to listen to the music and watch the flashing lights.
This past Sunday, Connor made his first debut in Sunday School. Cole and I dropped him off at Mimi's and went to church. Then my mom met us at church in between services and he came with us. He did such a good job and never made a peep. We think he might be ready to go with us for the whole time next Sunday. We'll see... :)

Connor has worked very hard since birth at getting his hand in his mouth and he has finally successfully been able to hold it in there. We are afraid that we might have a thumb-sucker on our hands!
Today was a big day not only for Connor, but for Mommy too! Connor had his 2 month doctors visit with shots and all! He weighed 13lbs and 4 oz. and was 23 1/2 in. long. He had to get 6 vaccinations total: 5 shots and 1 oral. He was such a champ. When they started the shots his eyes got really big, but he really didn't cry until the very end. As soon as I picked him up he stopped crying and fell asleep shortly after. This is what he did most of the day after his shots.
Here are his battle scars. He had 3 on one leg and 2 on the other.

Along with all of these new things Connor has been "talking" more and more every day. He is such a happy baby and constantly smiling. Today was the first time that he made a little giggle while he was smiling. It was so cute and I think he even surprised himself because he stopped as soon as he did it and got a serious look on his face.
Cole and I are truly blessed to have this little miracle in our lives!

Hayden's Heroes

On Friday, Connor and I went to lunch with some of my first grade students from last year and their moms. I was so excited to see them and catch up with their families. It was also fun for them to finally get to meet Connor after hearing about "Baby Hayden" all year long! :) Connor loved listening to all the kids talk and we wondered if he remembers those sounds that he heard from before during school.

This group of kids and moms was very special and made my year at Bee Cave Elementary something I will never forget. I am so glad that I was able to share the special times during my pregnancy with them. My students loved hearing updates from my doctors visits and always wanted to know how big "Baby Hayden" was and what he was doing in my tummy. The families in my class even had a sweet baby shower for us at the end of the year. With school starting back up soon it is going to be hard not to miss seeing those kids everyday, but I wouldn't trade getting to stay home with Connor for anything in the world! :)
