L-O-V-E

February is here and we are busy getting ready for Valentine's Day.  Yesterday Connor helped me start getting out the decorations and he even made a few himself.  Give him some stickers and he is a happy boy!
Next week the boys are having a Valentine's party with a few of their friends so we started by decorating the playroom.
Decorating was only fun for so long  so C quickly came up with his own game...
Can  you guess what this might be?....  If you know Connor it is an easy guess.   Yes, we spent the rest of the afternoon riding this train.  Mimi taught him how to set his chairs up like a train several months ago and he has been playing this ever since.  For the past several weeks when I pick him up from the church nursery I find him sitting in the first seat of a row of chairs while directing everyone else where to sit.
Today he wanted to be the "train-boose" (aka- caboose)
We also have been working on memorizing short bible verses.  In honor of Valentine's Day we learned "Love one another."  John 15:17
It snowed here this morning so I will be back soon with some pictures from our snow day!

Fire Trucks and a Pizza Party

Thursday we spent the morning at one of our local fire stations.  We were so glad that Connor's friends Caleb and Emily were able to join us.  The firefighters were SO nice and really made us feel welcome.  We started with a tour of their facilities to see where they work, eat, and sleep.  Then after checking out all their gear we headed out to see the fire engine.  This was definitely the kids favorite part.  All the fire fighters came out and played with the kids and let them explore.  They ensured us that everything was "kid proof". :)
Connor and Emily getting buckled up in the back seat.

While Caleb did the driving. :)
Connor liked the truck, but I think he favorite part was checking out all the gear.  He would go up and grab a fire fighters hand and lead them over to all the gear lined up on the wall.
He also worked really hard trying to figure out how to use the hose.
If you are a fan of Fly Through Our Window do you recognize Connor's shirt?  I ordered it from Darby and it came just in time for our trip.  (If you haven't read her blog, you should start!) :)
The firefighters said we were welcome back anytime so I am sure they will see us up there again soon.
The second part of our day was spent having a pizza party.  Connor's Nana gave him a Curious George book about having a pizza party and every time we read it he tells me he wants to have one.  So we bought all the ingredients and had our party just like Curious George.
In the book George cuts his dough into different shapes so we made our pizza in shapes too.
Connor has read that book so many times he knew exactly what to do.
Before our party was over we played pin the pepperoni on the pizza (just like George).  Connor didn't quite get the concept that he had to leave his eyes closed while he put it on. :)
Connor couldn't of had a better day!  Fire trucks and pizza make this boy pretty happy!

Kids Cook

Today we tried out a new place in town called Kids Cook.  Barbara Beery who has written several children's cookbooks owns the store and has some really fun walk-in activities for the kids.  Each week there are 2 different recipes that you can make (sweet & healthy) or you can decorate a cupcake.  We went the easier route and decorated a cupcake.  She knew exactly how to get a busy 2 year old involved and really made it a fun experience for Connor.

The tea pots were a huge hit. Connor's friend Emily has one that he loves to play with so I was thrilled to see a "boy" version that he could have.
After a little tea it was time for decorating a cupcake.  He decorated his apron and decided to color his icing yellow.  We mixed in the food coloring and spread it on top.
Let the decorating begin...
After he covered it with candy, Connor requested some strawberries to put on top.  (The boy wont even touch a strawberry when I try to give him one!)  Luckily she was able to find some in the back and even brought back some marshmallows.
"YUMMY!"
After trying a few bites it was time to clean up with the magic sponge.
Such a fun day and such a neat place.  We will definitely be going back!

Backyard Fun

On Saturday the sun came out and we headed outside for some fun with bubbles...
digging in the dirt...
"Mommy, this stick number seven."
....and a game of kick ball.
"Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.  Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.  Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture."
Psalm 100:1-3

Great Grandparents!

This past week we had a special visit from my grandparents, Momma Lou and Ed.  We were so glad that they made the long drive down to see us.  Connor loves getting to spend time with his great-grandparents.
Carson loved it too! :)
He especially loved sleeping in Momma Lou's arms.
Connor had everyone playing games and toys.  He was really excited about putting together this Noah's Ark puzzle.
Carson got to take a bath at Mimi's house and enjoyed seeing his reflection in the mirror.  Bath time is his favorite time of the day. (next to having a bottle) :)
There were lots of hugs and kisses to go around.
Thanks for coming to see us!  We really enjoyed your visit!
