Like most children, Connor thrives on a routine. Even to the point that for a while he thought he didn't have breakfast unless I gave him milk and a cereal bar. He loves knowing what is going to happen and when. I have learned over the past years that when we are going to do something new we need to talk about it a lot!
Well, my brain must have been on vacation this morning and I had a lesson in Parenting 101.
I had the brilliant idea to give the boys a bath together. Not only was I going to save time, but I only had to run the water once!
Not even thinking I plopped down Carson's seat and set him in the tub. Of course I had the camera close by to snap a few pictures of their first bath together. I looked through the lens and saw this look of distress on Connor's face...
Then the crying began. All I could hear was "Oh no! Oh no! Oh no!" Which in Connor's world means... Get this baby out of my tub!
In 2 seconds Connor was standing on the rug dripping water everywhere shouting "How will I ever take a bath!"
His world had come to an end and I forgot to let him know it was going to happen!
I'm not sure what I was thinking and I definitely didn't have a plan on how I was going to get both of them out at the same time.
Carson joined in on the crying and we had a good 15 minute cry fest following bath time. Who knew bath time could be so much fun? :)
Later, I started thinking about how Connor reacted to the change and could clearly see that I am the exact same way. I can't tell you how many times I have had some type of unexpected change in my life only to find myself asking "God, what are you doing? This is not how it is suppose to be." Thankfully His plan for me is perfect in every way... even when I can't see it at first.
I am happy to report that our day ended on a much better note than it started.
Can you feel the love? :)
